Hawke is Edward Dalton, a vampire researcher who conducts studies in order to save humanity from nearing extinction due to starving vampires. Dafoe is Elvis, a cured vampire who duels with Dalton. Neill is Charles Bromley, the vampire who is in charge of a potent corporation.

The journey to make Daybreakers started in November 2004 when Lionsgate received the script to the film. Spierig brothers collaborated before in the 2003 film Undead. In May 2007, Hawke was cast in the lead role. Also in the same month, Neill joined. The green light on filming happened two months later on July sixteen, 2007. WETA, known for the creature consequences of The Lord of the Rings, also created the visuals for Daybreakers. The movie’s budget was $21 million but it also received help from the state government. They finished filming in September 2007 – right punctually. There were some re-shoots but these were done swiftly and further delays were evaded.
When asked to describe the film, Hawke asserted it was an allegory of man’s relationship with naturally occuring resources. Nowadays, humans abuse what they get from the planet and that’s why there are needs for substitutes.Hawke has also released statements that the film was’low art’ and’unpretentious and silly.’ If you like vampire films then this is another flick that you should not miss.
